I’ve been riding mountain bikes since I was about 14 years old and entered my first downhill races when I was 16, the Cloud Cover Winter Series in Somerset. My first ‘proper’ mountain bike was an On-One Inbred custom build with a Fox 32 Vanilla and Halo wheels, built with paper round money. This was replaced with my first full suspension bike – a 2006 Specialized Big Hit 3 (the year they changed to 26″ front and rear!)
Currently I’m riding a bright orange Transition Spire custom build. It’s spec’d with factory orange Fox 38 fork, Fox coil shock, Hope Fortus wheels, Saint brakes and DMR bars/stem. It’s a bit bright and not everybody likes it, but it definitely stands out.
My local riding spot is Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP), but if I had to choose a favourite place to ride in the UK it would definitely have to be Triscombe! The steep tracks there have a natural flow to them like nowhere else, plus the locals always seem to have built something new to ride.
