Guided E-BIke Rides

south downs way & qecp

Are you new to mountain biking or looking to explore the Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP) and South Downs Way? Book a guided e-bike ride with Kevin or Jim, our British Cycling Qualified guides. If you don’t have an e-bike, you can hire one from us (see below for more details).

You’ll start at the Botley MTB outpost at Manor Farm in Clanfield, where you can safely leave your car at no additional charge. We have a warm and dry space to get changed into your riding gear. Next, you’ll set off up Butser Hill and descend into the QECP. Kevin and Jim will take you on the most fun and scenic trails the area has to offer, making sure the route matches your riding ability level. There’s lots of options available for snacks and lunch, which will be planned into your route.

After your ride, you’ll return back to the Botley MTB Outpost. There’s a jetwash to clean your bike, plus a workshop area with cleaning products, lubricants etc. This means you won’t have to worry about cleaning your bike when you get home! There’s also tea/coffee and cold drinks available.

QE park guided rides

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is located very close to our Clanfield Outpost. We usually ride there over the top of Butser Hill, inocoporating the incredible descent down the main slope to QECP visitor centre.

The park has some excellent riding on offer, including the 7.5km red graded trail and more recently built 6km blue graded trail. The red is more natural, with lots of roots and some technical off camber sections. The blue, which won 2018 MBR volunteer built trail of the year, is smooth and fast and loved by riders of all abiltiies. It now features the new ‘Bermageddon’ section which is a great place to stop and session for a few runs. It has a series of fast berms including a tabletop jump (don’t worry, you can roll it if you want to!)

We know the best way to link up the trails, creating variations of the route and getting you on all the best runs!

south downs way guided rides

The South Downs Way is 160km long and follows the ridgelines and chalk escarpments from Winchester to Beechy Head. We are perfectly located on one of the most beatiful parts of the trail, with the option to ride either east or west.

We start by riding to the top of Butser Hill, which is 270m high. On clear days there’s an impressive view from the top all the way to the sea.

Descending from here, into the QECP or out onto the South Downs. We can take you on an e-bike adventure incorporating the many tracks and bridleways in the area, meaning you can venture off the main trail to ride loops or return back a different way.

It is possible to incorporate the South Downs Way and QECP into the same ride, creating an all day epic adventure with some flowy trails on the way home!

Guided ride pricing

The guiding fee is  £120 for half a day, or £200 for full day. The amount is split equally between the riders. For example, four riders for a full day costs £50 per person. If you are looking to book on your own as opposed to in a group we can try to take you with other riders. Give us a call and we’ll see what we can do!

Optional e-bike hire is in addition to the guiding fee. We charge £50 per full day, or £30 per half day.

Please note that payment is made to our partner company, Advanced Wellbeing Ltd, not to Botley MTB directly.

E-Bike hire

If you don’t have an e-bike you can hire one from us. For those who are thinking about buying one, it’s also a perfect way to experience the enjoyment of an electrically assisted ride. We normally use full suspension Moustache Trail 2 bikes with Bosche motors. These produce up to 85nm of torque from their 630wh batteries. You can select your desired power mode using the display on the handlebars and adjust the output as often as needed.

All our bikes have dropper seatposts allow you to raise or lower your seat height without needing to stop. This means you can have the seat at the correct height whilst pedalling, but lower it to get on/off the bike or when riding more challenging terrain.

We also offer e-bike hire seperately. For more information and pricing please click here.
